A brief outline the current design for safety requirements and an opinion on whether these are sufficient - How are designers implementing design for safety (and what more can we do)? The term ‘Design for Safety’ is best understood through examples. The speaker will provide design for safety examples from past experience, and the Lighthouse Club’s International Design for Safety Competition, to show how decisions made in the design stage can eliminate or reduce risks to others in the implementation stages and beyond. This will be rounded off with a discussion on the common themes and an opinion on where we could improve. Originally trained in the UK, Robert has been based in Hong Kong since 2012 leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver some of the great projects that are benefiting Hong Kong today.
