Abstract of the Safety Seminar The corporate landscape is undergoing a paradigm shift, with environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria becoming a cornerstone of sustainable business practices around the world. Among these, OSH is emerging as a key component, integral to the 'social' dimension of ESG strategies. Embedding OSH practices within ESG frameworks is a strategic approach. A strong OSH record can lead to fewer workplace incidents and reduced absenteeism - factors that are critical to improving productivity, competitive advantage, operational excellence, reducing insurance costs, enhancing brand reputation, and hence better financial performance. Robust OSH standards are also increasingly influencing investment decisions. Investors are showing a preference for companies with exemplary safety records, recognizing that proactive OSH management is indicative of the overall quality of a company's risk management and governance. Safety and health professionals can take advantage of this global ESG trend and expand their influence, be more proactive in developing ESG systems, support value creation and enhance business sustainability. HKEX is also enhancing the ESG requirements and disclosures for all listed companies in HK in line with latest International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards: IFRS S1 & S2 in 1/1/2025, which pose a significant challenge for business leaders and professionals. Victor Kwong will share his practical experience from being a frontline safety officer in the early days to General Manager of Corporate Sustainability of a large organization before his retirement. He will also outline latest developments of ESG professionals in HK and how safety and health professionals can expand their role in ESG field. Registration : 1.
