Speakers: Dr. Ronson C.T. LI is private medical physician working in family & occupational medicine over 20 years in the Hong Kong. He has worked on many TBM compressed air work projects & commercial diving project in Hong Kong in the capacity of Appointed Medical Practitioner & Diving Medical physician.
Dr. LI is specialized in diving & hyperbaric medicine and he is the only practicing physician in Asia being approved by Norwegian Board of Health relating to occupational health surveillance for occupational divers. In compressed air work in TBM (Tunnel Building Machine), Dr. Li works as Appointed Medical Practitioner in KCRC West Rail DB 320 Kwai Ching Tunnel; West Kowloon Drainage Improvement, Stage 2 Phase 2 – Kai Tak Transfer Scheme Tunnel; Tuen Mun underwater CLP power cable Tunnel Projects; KCRC West Rail LBD-201 Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Tunnel; Link200 JV, Kowloon Southern Link KCRC tunnel; DSD contract DC/2007/16 on Lai Chi Kok Transfer Scheme Tunnel at 4.2bar Tunnel and ongoing as Appointed Medical Practitioner for MTRC XRL820, XRL825, XRL823a and MTR703 tunneling projects.
Mr. Matthew LI is the Project Safety Manager of WIL703 project which is belonging to Dragages-Maeda-BSG Joint Venture. He has 11 years construction site experience in various large scale projects.
Mr. LI is the key person in WIL703 project to handle Tunnel Boring Machine and Tunnel Dismantling Machine operation with compressed air work at max.3.4 bars pressure and adopting French oxygen decompression table up to 3.6 bars. Besides, his duties include but not limited to deal with different government department (Labour Dept., Fire Service Dept. and Health Dept.), daily monitoring on compressed air work, health surveillance, set up safety management system as well as a standby operator of man lock and medical lock.
Abstract: This presentation will highlight specific occupational health & safety issues related to modern compressed air work in TBM, protective & precautionary measures and the role of safety personnel in the context.
